Sub-groups

The working groups which are taking forward aspects of the work plan are:

Transition Sub group
Transition is a priority for the network. The group is led by Lee Curtis, IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist. The working group has been established to look at the process of transition, to examine the transition process currently being provided and to develop a policy document which will describe the principles, standards of care and transition care pathways for young people with complex GI disease.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
The IBD sub group is chaired by Dr Richard Russell, Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist. The aim of the group is to agree on standards of care for children and young people with IBD in the West of Scotland and to develop a framework of supporting documentation to ensure that these standards are met.
These standards will be designed

  • to ensure equitable, high quality care for all children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • to maintain evidence-based practice in line with national standards of care as per National IBD Audit
  • to improve, standardise and streamline care for all patients with IBD

Enteral Feeding
The enteral feeding sub group is chaired by Elaine Buchanan, Lead Dietitian. The aim of the group is to standardise practice for paediatric enteral feeding in relation to protocols, equipment and clinical expertise across the West of Scotland.

Education
The aim of the group is to develop education tools and organise education sessions for the network. The education sub group has no further meetings scheduled in the short term.
